Treatment in neurological physiotherapy is based upon exercises to restore motor function by attempting to overcome motor deficits and improve motor patterns.
Specific problems in this patient population include spasticity, weakness, walking problems and balance issues.
Examples of conditions that can be treated include acquired brain injury, stroke (cerebral vascular accidents), spinal cord injuries (paraplegia and quadriplegia), multiple sclerosis and cerebral palsy.
Dizziness and balance complaints can also be assessed and treatment provided. Testing can be done for vestibular problems such as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.
