Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a first contact, autonomous, client-focused health profession dedicated to:

  • Improving and maintaining functional independence and physical performance,
  • Prevention and managing pain, physical impairments, disabilities and limits to participation
  • Promoting fitness, health and wellness. Adapted from Canadian Physiotherapy Association website

At Therapeutic Mobility, our experienced team of registered physiotherapists will provide you with a comprehensive assessment which will include details of your health history, evaluation of pain and movement patterns, strength, joint range of motion, and your neurological and activity status. Taking your goals and needs into consideration they will then design a specific program geared to getting you back to pain-free and full function as quickly as possible.

At all times we will promote independence by educating our clients in the best ways possible to alleviate their pain and disability while they are in treatment and once they are discharged from care. Treatment tools may include:

  • Strengthening and therapeutic exercise programmes
  • Mobility and flexibility improvement
  • Improvements in muscle imbalances and alignment
  • Balance retraining and movement coordination
  • Manual therapy – intervention to reduce pain and stiffness
  • Electrical modalities such as ultrasound
  • Gait retraining
  • Neurological rehabilitation for stroke, acquired brain injury or disorders such as MS (multiple sclerosis)
  • Acupuncture

Physiotherapy is no longer covered by OHIP but is covered by most extended benefit programs. A physician’s referral is NOT required.
